Roundtable Executive Director Named Chairman of the Board of Advisors of the Morin Center for Banking and Financial Law

Washington, D.C. – June 3, 2009 – Richard M. Whiting, Executive Director and General Counsel of The Financial Services Roundtable, has been elected Chairman of the Board of Advisors of the Morin Center for Banking and Financial Law at Boston University’s School of Law.

Whiting succeeds John D. Hawke, Jr., of the law firm of Arnold & Porter—a former U.S. Comptroller of the Currency and former Under Secretary of the Treasury for Domestic Finance—who chaired the 24-member board since 1993.

“The Roundtable is proud to recognize the leadership of Rich Whiting,” said Steve Bartlett, President and CEO, The Financial Services Roundtable.  “His accomplishments in business and legal issues transcend boundaries to benefit the financial services industry and academia alike.”

Whiting also is an adjunct professor at the Georgetown University Law Center and the Boston College Law School, from which he received his JD degree.  He is an officer in the American Bar Association.

The Financial Services Roundtable represents 100 of the largest integrated financial services companies providing banking, insurance, and investment products and services to the American consumer.  Member companies participate through the Chief Executive Officer and other senior executives nominated by the CEO.

Roundtable member companies provide fuel for America's economic engine, accounting directly for $85.2 trillion in managed assets, $980 billion in revenue, and 2.3 million jobs.
