Committees

Business & Economy Issues Committee

The Business & Economy Issues Committee develops and recommends legislative policies and strategies, particularly those that enhance a modern financial system. The Committee shall identify emerging issues that affect the future conduct, success and operations of the financial services industry, and the overall success of the economy.

Consumer Issues & Housing Committee

The Consumer Issues & Housing Committee develops and recommends legislative and regulatory policies and strategies designed to strengthen the retail market and enhance the industry's role in serving that market's customers.

Regulatory Oversight Committee

The Regulatory Oversight Committee develops and recommends policies and strategies regarding approaches to regulation and supervision at all the federal regulatory agencies that affect financial institutions. These include, but are not limited to, the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), Federal Reserve System (FRB), Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS), and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Global & Trade Issues Committee

The Global & Trade Issues Committee develops and recommends policies and strategies for implementation of international agreements and financial arrangements that will maximize the competitiveness of U.S. financial institutions in international markets.

Program Committee

The Program Committee develops the agendas for the business sessions at the Fall Conference and Annual Meeting. The Committee provides guidance to the Roundtable Board on the selection of guest speakers, program topics and leisure and entertainment options for Roundtable meetings.

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee is composed of a representative set of Directors. The Committee reviews applications and makes recommendations to the Board regarding admissions to membership. Periodically, the Committee also reviews membership policies of the Roundtable.

Cluff Research Fund

The Cluff Research Fund designs, approves, and funds research on issues affecting the financial services industry and related public policy. The results of the studies will 1) advance the program policies of the Roundtable, 2) help members and staff set priorities, and 3) inform and educate members, industry, and government.

Political Action Committee Board of Directors

The Political Action Committee Board of Directors directs the operations of the Roundtable's federal political action committee. In particular, the Board develops the PAC's budget, solicitation, and contribution strategies.

Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee , as required by Roundtable By-Laws, is appointed by the President to comprise no more than ten members selected from among past presidents who are still active representatives. The Nominating Committee shall nominate annually a candidate for Vice President, and twelve candidates for the six directorships, and in case of any vacancy on the Board of Directors, candidates for such directorship for the unexpired portion of such term.

Audit & Finance Committee

The Finance Committee reviews annual budget plans and other financial matters and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors.

Councils

Government Affairs Council

The Government Affairs Council provides advice and assistance to Roundtable staff in lobbying issues on Capitol Hill that are of concern to the Roundtable. Roundtable member company government relations officers who follow federal financial services legislative and regulatory developments serve on the Government Affairs Council. While the entire Council meets routinely, much work is delegated to task forces which meet as needed to deal with specific issues assigned to them.

Community Service 2011

Community Service 2011 highlights Roundtable member companies’ efforts to improve the communities in which they work, and strengthens partnerships with non-profit partners and public policymakers. Chief Financial Officers (CFO) Council

The Chief Financial Officers (CFO) Council provides advice to the Roundtable's leadership and staff on accounting, financial, economic and related matters. Its membership is composed of CFOs, corporate treasurers, and other executives from the Roundtable's member companies. Its organizational meeting was held at the 2001 Annual Meeting, during which members discussed the pending Basel Committee Capital proposal and accounting for loan and lease loss reserves.

Lawyers Council

The Lawyers Council is comprised of the General Counsels from many Roundtable member companies. It provides legal analysis and advice to the Roundtable committees and leadership regarding legislative, regulatory, and judicial matters of importance to member companies. The Council holds a Spring Meeting in Washington, D.C., which features prominent federal regulators, legislators, and banking practitioners, and for which continuing legal education credit is granted by many states. The Council does much of its work through ad hoc working groups and task forces.

Public Affairs Council

The Financial Services Roundtable's Public Affairs Council works in partnership with the Roundtable Government Affairs Council to develop communication strategies, messages, and initiatives that support the Roundtable's legislative policy agenda and activities. The Public Affairs Council is comprised of the following working groups:

  • InFact - the Roundtable's grassroots advocacy
  • Community Service 2011
  • Strength in Numbers - an initiative to identify our member companies' employee strength in a district-by-district and state-by-state report.
