Community Service 2008 Company of the Week
September 15 , 2008
Regions Financial Corporation
Regions has organized Community Service 2008 projects throughout its 16-state footprint, with 27 of the 33 projects focusing on financial literacy.
Most recently, on Sept. 10 and 11, the bank joined the CFO of the State of Florida Alex Sink, FDIC, the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and the United Way to bring FDIC’s Money Smart Train-the-Trainer Program to Jacksonville and Pensacola, Fla. Money Smart is a financial literacy program that can be customized to different age groups and languages. Workshop participants, which included Regions associates and volunteers from local non-profits, became certified Money Smart instructors and are encouraged to teach one or more of the Money Smart modules to community members within the next 12 months.
Regions also launched its own financial education program for teens and children, Scholars & Dollars. The program is available to schools and community groups, and covers checking accounts, saving, money management, credit and lending. Regions associates are encouraged to help teach financial literacy in their communities and are given a paid volunteer day through its What a Difference A Day Makes program!
Congratulations, Regions Financial!
