Community Service 2008 Company of the Week

November 10, 2008

Mutual of Omaha

Providing help in times of need. It’s a principle that Mutual of Omaha was founded on nearly 100 years ago. And it’s the reason Mutual of Omaha employees are committed to rolling up their sleeves and spending time volunteering in the community.

Never was that commitment more apparent than on August 29, when Mutual of Omaha employees participated in the United Way of the Midlands’ “Day of Caring.” More than 140 employees came together and spent 560 hours volunteering at community organizations throughout the city of Omaha, including Heartland Family Services, the Open Door Mission, Girls Inc. and the Social Settlement. They cleaned, painted, sorted toys and did yard work – whatever the organizations needed.

“Day of Caring” is just one of example of the way Mutual of Omaha employees respond to needs in the community. Through the company’s employee-sponsored HALO organization, employees offer aid to fellow co-workers and families throughout the community that have significant financial needs. And through the company’s “Community Connection” volunteer program, employees are plugged-in to numerous volunteer opportunities that allow them to continue Mutual of Omaha’s tradition of providing help when it is needed most.

Congratulations, Mutual of Omaha!
