Community Service 2008 Company of the Week
October 13, 2008
Nationwide
Saving, rebuilding and enriching lives is what Nationwide’s Corporate Citizenship is all about. Their key initiatives include: community volunteerism, mentoring area youth, donating supplies to area food banks and donating blood to local blood donation organizations. During Community Care Day, 5% of Nationwide associates volunteered at Columbus, Ohio area United Way affiliates. Working with Columbus City Schools and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio, Nationwide helped launch Project Mentor which provides help for at-risk students. This year, 400 associates have committed to the cause.
In a partnership with the Mid-Ohio Foodbank, Nationwide associates logged over 71,000 volunteer hours—providing food for 500 food pantries in 20 Ohio counties. Nationwide’s long-standing commitment to blood donation fills a vital need. Thirteen years ago, in support of their commitment, Nationwide installed the first American Red Cross corporate blood donor center in their Columbus Headquarters. Employees can donate at work throughout the week.
Congratulations, Nationwide!
