Community Service 2009 Company of the Week
January 18, 2009
Lincoln Financial Group
Lincoln Financial Group built upon its long tradition of community service during The Financial Services Roundtable’s Community Service 2008.
In Fort Wayne, Ind., 140 employee volunteers put their hands and hearts to work in August helping two community schools prepare for the new academic year. At Forest Park Elementary and Lakeside Middle Schools, Lincoln Financial employees painted, landscaped the grounds, cleaned classrooms, organized books and did whatever else was necessary to ensure that the children would have a clean, safe, and attractive learning environment.
Pat Casey, manager of maintenance for Fort Wayne Community Schools wrote, “Thank you so much for bringing your group to our schools. We are amazed at how much your group accomplished and we are so happy to have been selected by your employees as a place to invest the time in making a difference for our staff and students.”
In Concord, N.H., Lincoln Financial fielded 58 employees in September for the United Way Day of Caring, continuing the company’s tradition of proving more volunteers than any other employer in the city. Devoting their time and energy at more than 28 United Way agencies, employees helped by raking, painting, taking care of children, visiting the elderly, tending to animals at the SPCA, doing office work, and proving many other services.
Lincoln Financial Foundation also awarded $38,500 in Lincoln Invests in Volunteer Experiences (LIVE) grants to nonprofit organizations in 17 communities in 2008. Each $500 LIVE grant recognizes 50 volunteer hours that a Lincoln Financial employee has devoted to a community nonprofit on his or her own time during a 12-month period. Last year the work of 72 employees qualified for LIVE grants.
Lincoln Financial Group and its employee volunteers continue working to make the communities in which we live and work more vibrant, healthy, and livable.
Congratulations, Lincoln Financial Group!
