Community Service 2008 Company of the Week

October 13, 2008

ING

ING recognizes that employees need to balance their work and life interests, and part of having a better quality of life means employees are able to connect with their communities. Through ING’s Volunteer Time Away program, employees across our U.S. operations can take up to 40 hours of paid time off a year to volunteer in their communities.

ING’s national volunteer team, ING Community Partners, are a vital part of the company’s overall civic platform, responding to employees’ interests at their locations, organizing and leading local volunteer activities—all in an effort to empower their communities.

In recognition of Community Service 2008, ING employees volunteered over 8,400 hours during the summer. A few ING Community Partners sponsored activities included partnering with City Parks Foundation in New York, New York, to plant trees in a local park; helping to build a “green” Habitat for Humanity House in Des Moines, Iowa; teaching children in Denver, Colorado, how to run a business through JA BizTown; delivering meals to the homebound in Minneapolis, Minnesota; serving as mentors to children in Big Brothers Big Sisters in Windsor, Connecticut; and staffing events or cheering on athletes at the Georgia Special Olympics Summer Games in Atlanta, Georgia.

Partnering with local nonprofit organizations to help make life easier for others in their communities is what the culture of giving is all about at ING.

Congratulations, ING!
