First Horizon National Corp. Presents Financial Literacy Sessions
Promoting Financial Literacy
As part of the American Bankers Association’s Million Child Challenge, First Horizon National Corp. employees across Tennessee visited local classrooms during the months of April and May to discuss with students the importance of making wise financial decisions. The savings presentations will continue throughout the summer as employees visit local nonprofits and church youth groups.
First Horizon also continues to serve as the corporate adopter of various schools in its home state of Tennessee. Employee volunteers routinely visit these schools to impart valuable life lessons to students, judge competitions and introduce them to various careers within the banking industry.
Donating Blood – The Gift of Life
In a year when money, time and resources may be tight, First Horizon National Corp. is encouraging its employees to donate something more valuable than money – life-saving blood. Over the past few decades, First Horizon has forged strong partnerships with blood centers across Tennessee to ensure that local communities have an adequate blood supply capable of meeting the needs of trauma and accident victims, cancer patients and the whole host of people who may need blood at a moment’s notice.
The company hosts quarterly blood drives where employees are invited to donate blood on site. During the most recent blood drives in Memphis, Tenn., the site of corporate headquarters and a major medical center, employees came out in record numbers. Some of the first employees to roll up their sleeves were Bank President Charles Burkett and Chief Risk Officer Herb Hilliard.
First Horizon believes these challenging economic times present its employees with unique opportunities to demonstrate to the communities they serve that they are committed to meeting more than financial services needs. They have the heart and desire to support numerous causes that impact the health and strength of their communities.
