City National Volunteers in Northern California

In conjunction with National Volunteer Month in April, City National Bank colleagues were encouraged to commit three hours in the month of April to volunteer in their communities on their own or by participating in the bank’s fourth annual City National Community PRIDE Days. The response was tremendous, to say the least.

Over 180 colleagues, friends and family gave more than 780 volunteer hours in bank organized PRIDE Day projects in Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, Ventura, Inland Empire, Bay Area, Nevada and New York. PRIDE Day projects included cleaning up schools, parks, youth centers, group homes, and a riverbank.

Another 23 colleagues participated in a Dollars + Sense Day, teaching City National’s own financial literacy program to elementary school students near downtown Los Angeles.

But perhaps most impressive were the volunteer projects organized by the colleagues themselves. City National colleagues were asked to report back volunteer activities they did on their own and the list of ways they supported their communities is very impressive. Colleagues throughout the bank volunteered at food banks, taught financial literacy programs, gave blood, wrote letters to soldiers, mentored teens, donated clothing, coached youth sports, and served as troop leaders. They delivered meals to those too ill or old to leave home, and to those who do not have homes. They  tutored children, seniors, veterans, mentally challenged and the disabled. They volunteered at churches, shelters, hospitals, schools, libraries, charities and in the community. They served on boards and committees, and organized tournaments, food and clothing drives, field trips, renovation projects and fund raisers in support of all of the above. They raised money and awareness, and most importantly, City National colleagues gave their time to help make a difference in the places where we all live and work.
