Community Service 2008 Company of the Week

Bank of Hawaii Corporation
On Saturday, August 16th, Bank of Hawaii partnered with the Hawaii Public Housing Authority and YouthBuild Honolulu to refurbish public housing units at Kamalu-Ho‘olulu in Waipahu. Kamalu-Ho‘olulu is a state-developed residence for low-income elderly, ages 62 or older, which is managed by the Hawaii Public Housing Authority.
More than 50 Bank of Hawaii and YouthBuild volunteers painted and cleaned eight units plus common areas in two buildings as part of Community Service 2008. At the end of the day, eight units were ready for occupancy!
YouthBuild Honolulu is an alternative educational and job training program for youth at risk. It prepares students for employment with mentoring and construction training. The program is part of the Youth Services Center, City & County of Honolulu, Dept. of Community Services Office of Special Projects.
