As a service to the community, Bank of Hawaii began hosting a series of free financial education seminars throughout Hawaii in February.

Al Landon, Chairman and CEO of Bank of Hawaii, said, “During these difficult economic conditions, people are seeking financial knowledge and tools to help ensure their own economic safety. The seminars provide sound advice for Hawaii residents interested in improving their financial management skills, and are a meaningful way to provide support in our communities.”

The “Bank of Hawaii Smart Money” seminars feature a variety of topics such as Making the Most of Your Money; Saving and Investing; Protecting Yourself Against Fraud; the ABCs of Credit; and more. The seminars are led by financial experts from the bank, and are free and open to the public. Speakers are also available free of charge to community organizations.

On Tuesday, May 26, Bank of Hawaii will begin seminar topic #5, Saving for Retirement – more topics are planned, including two specifically geared for business owners and managers. Based on the positive feedback from the attendees, the seminars are successfully meeting the need for sound advice to improve financial management skills.  Since the series began, more than 600 people have attended 34 sessions, conveniently held at branches on Oahu, Hawaii Island, Maui and Kauai.
