Community Service 2008 Company of the Week
June 14 , 2008
AEGON USA, Inc.
In response to the devastating floods in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, AEGON USA, Inc. employees were quick to initiate a Volunteer Recovery Project. On the first day of registration over 600 volunteers signed up, and to date, there are over 1,000 registered. Volunteers are matched through a database with members of the community who need help with cleaning, removal of debris, pet care, food delivery, and much more. Over 4,000 homes have been affected by the floods with news that as many as 2,000 of them may be demolished. The city of Cedar Rapids lost, among lives, livelihoods and memories: the library, Federal Courthouse, as well as many restaurants, small businesses and large companies.
Out of respect for the flooding victims, the decision was made not to include images of AEGON volunteers on site. Volunteering will continue throughout the summer with the hopes of continued support.
CS08 Companies send their thoughts and best wishes to AEGON USA and everyone affected by the flooding.
