Community Service 2008 Company of the Week

From April to June, nearly 150 City National Bank colleagues, friends and family participated in the company’s annual Community PRIDE Day projects in 5 different communities throughout California.

Projects included partnering with Rebuilding Together Oakland to help beautify Dunsmuir Estate, helping clean-up the Ventura River and the Santa Barbara Channel, restoring trails and plant life in Griffith Park, Los Angeles, as well as working in Santa Ana to help restore a recreation center for troubled and abused local youth.

A wonderful moment towards the end of the project was on June 7, where the San Diego colleagues, in conjunction with Community HousingWorks, rehabbed the home and yard of a local low-income senior. “The difference in this property is amazing, and the enthusiasm of your team was truly appreciated by the homeowner,” says Dennis Wood, a representative of Community HousingWorks, the event’s organizer. Adds a daughter of a homeowner who was part of the project, “Please extend my thanks to the many people involved whom I never met and whose names I don’t know, but who changed lives with their work and spirit.”
