In its fifth year, Community Build Day 2006 was a tremendous success with 46 Roundtable member companies participating in 120 builds in 50 states. Community Build Day 2006 expanded beyond its original scope of of building houses to building entire communities, working with a variety of partners on a variety of projects, including rehabilitating homes, community landscaping, back-to-school book drives, and preparing meals for the homeless.

Chaired by Stanley R. Ommen of State Farm Bank, here is the breakdown of CBD 2006 by the numbers:

  • $958,100 raised
  • 29 building houses/Habitat For Humanity
  • 47 repair/remodeling projects
  • 17 school supply drives
  • 5 food drives/homeless shelter projects ü 9 walks/runs
  • 14 miscellaneous other projects
  • 2,000 families helped
  • 14,700 individuals helped
  • 25,000 school children helped
  • More than 30 Representatives and Senators (or staff) attended
  • More than 200 local, state, and regional elected officials participated
