Roundtable Asia Trip a Success!

The Roundtable’s President and CEO, Steve Bartlett and Executive Director and General Counsel Rich Whiting spent this week in China and Taiwan holding a series of meetings with government officials, regulators and Roundtable member companies who have operations in Asia.

While in China, Mr. Bartlett and Mr. Whiting met with several Chinese government officials including: Ambassador Clark Randt Jr., the Chinese banking and securities regulators, and Roundtable companies with a presence in China.

While in Taiwan, Mr. Bartlett and Mr. Whiting attended the Taiwan Financial Services Roundtable’s (TFSR) 2nd Annual Meeting. The Roundtable and TFSR signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signifying further cooperation with our Taiwan counterpart. The Taiwanese Premier was at the meeting, as well as the Chairman of the country's Financial Services Regulator. Mr. Bartlett made remarks during the formal signing ceremony and delivered a speech addressing global competitiveness, international regulatory issues and trade before the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC), the country's top financial services regulating body. Several members of the Taiwan and International press were in attendance. Mr. Bartlett and Mr. Whiting also met with TFSR members, Taiwanese government officials, and Roundtable companies with a presence in Taiwan. We will have more on this story and photos in next week’s bulletin.
