Director of Regulatory Affairs
The Director of Regulatory Affairs for a D.C.-based association representing the financial services industry will be a key member of the leadership team in formulating and communicating public policy for the association. Law Degree highly desirable.
Responsibilities
- Emphasis on SEC advocacy, both with agency and in Congress with regard to securities legislation and regulation;
- Serve as liaison between the association and federal financial regulators including FRB, OCC, SEC, OTS, Treasury, and other federal regulators;
- Develop Regulatory Comment letters to all federal financial regulatory agencies. Letters prepared in "Open Platform" method inviting comments from General Counsels of our 100 member companies;
- Prepare communications to Hill, comment letters, reports, papers and other materials on regulatory/legislative issues;
- Maintain open communication with other trade associations on regulatory matters, with purpose of influencing their policy positions;
- Manage the relationship between the association and researchers/authors who perform studies and write publications for the association;
- Communicate policy issues to member company executives, other associations and Roundtable senior management.
Skills
- Strong background in financial services policy (experience with securities, banking and insurance helpful);
- Strong analytical skills;
- Strong writing and oral communication skills;
- Ability to handle multiple issues concurrently;
- Ability to communicate effectively with high ranking government and industry leaders;
- Strong experience with securities law is a plus;
- Solid grounding in other financial agencies: Federal Reserve, OCC, OTS, Dept of Treasury, also important
