Chief Financial Officers (CFO) Council

The Chief Financial Officers (CFO) Council provides advice to the Roundtable's leadership and staff on accounting, financial, economic and related matters. Its membership is composed of CFOs, corporate treasurers, and other executives from the Roundtable's member companies. Its organizational meeting was held at the 2001 Annual Meeting, during which members discussed the pending Basel Committee Capital proposal and accounting for loan and lease loss reserves.

Government Affairs Council

The Government Affairs Council provides advice and assistance to Roundtable staff in lobbying issues on Capitol Hill that are of concern to the Roundtable. Roundtable member company government relations officers who follow federal financial services legislative and regulatory developments serve on the Government Affairs Council. While the entire Council meets routinely, much work is delegated to task forces which meet as needed to deal with specific issues assigned to them.

Lawyers Council

The Lawyers Council is comprised of the General Counsels from many Roundtable member companies. It provides legal analysis and advice to the Roundtable committees and leadership regarding legislative, regulatory, and judicial matters of importance to member companies. The Council holds a Spring Meeting in Washington, D.C., which features prominent federal regulators, legislators, and banking practitioners, and for which continuing legal education credit is granted by many states. The Council does much of its work through ad hoc working groups and task forces.

Public Affairs Council

The Financial Services Roundtable's Public Affairs Council works in partnership with the Roundtable Government Affairs Council to develop communication strategies, messages, and initiatives that support the Roundtable's legislative policy agenda and activities. The Public Affairs Council is comprised of the following working groups:

  • InFact - the Roundtable's grassroots advocacy
  • Community Service 2008
  • Strength in Numbers - an initiative to identify our member companies' employee strength in a district-by-district and state-by-state report.
  • Media Relations

Human Resources Council

The Human Resources Council is comprised of senior human resources executives of Roundtable member companies. The goal of the HR Council is to provide a forum to discuss human resource and related policy issues and impact federal policy. The Council also serves as a resource to Roundtable human resources executives and is active on issues of mutual interest to members, such as employment training. The HR Council also works on behalf of the financial services industry with government and other organizations, including the U.S. Department of Labor, the President's National Hire Veterans Committee and Easter Seals.
